The House of Strep

February 29, 2008

Yep, you guessed it. Three out four have tested positive, but what’s weird is, Faith is the only one that didn’t, but has been the most symptomatic. Isn’t that crazy? I had an awful night with her, crying, and she was drooling like she was afraid to swallow, so I automatically assumed that she had it. And she was my main reason for taking them in. My first question for them, was did they mix up the tests, but they swear that they didn’t. So that’s Christopher, Allie and Emma that are on antibiotics for 10 days. But they are all acting like they feel ok. The ped did say to give her a call this weekend, if Faith starts showing signs, you know, fever and such.

Our New Photo Gallery

February 28, 2008

Hey!  Check out our new photo gallery!  I’m still setting it up and working with the colors.  Right now, nothing matches.  I’m also in the process of setting everyone up as users, so you can start posting pics ASAP!!

Easter Outfits

I mentioned to Lou the other day that Angelina will need an Easter dress and he said, “What are you kidding me? We’re not doing that!” I was sooo mad!  I’m going to go out & buy her one anyway! And if I see a hat I’ll get that too!!!  We will be visiting my Dad on the Eve & Lou’s parents on the Day & I would really like the babies to be dressed up. Are you guys dressing up the babies???

Christopher Has Strep

Yep…just got back from the ped’s office.  He tested positive, so he’s out of school for the rest of the week.  Faith and Emma are showing signs too.  Coughing, voice changes, etc.  So I’ll probably be carrying them to the doctor tomorrow.  And could be the reason for the sleepless nights.  Allie seems ok…just a runny nose.

Faith and Emma have both had pink eye too, so we’ve been dropping eyes.  Which that’s such a blast…you know it! They absolutely hate it, and it takes me and Steven together to get it done.  But other than that, everyone has been fine, still their same rambunctious selves. :)

What about car seats?

The twins turned 15 months yesterday (and Felix is still not walking, he’s now officially my slowest!). They’re still rear facing since it’s safer, but it’s getting harder for me to get Maxine in the middle (she was well over 23lbs at 12 months, I guess more like 25-26lbs now). My back is killing me. I am considering turning them around 18 months, then I could put Sofie in the middle and she could get there herself. Now she can’t with the rear facing seats on each side and the twins on each side ff. I only have 1 row, so they need to sit side by side, which fits. However, the least vulnerable person (the largest) would be in the middle … but geez, my back is vulnerable too! I think 18 months of rear facing would be a pretty nice compromise, considering they’ll be close to 26-30lbs by then (Sofie was 28lbs14oz at age 18 months, 95%, Felix is heavier, Maxine lighter). What set up do you currently have?

Huge multiples discount!!!

February 27, 2008

I just ordered a pair of Preschoolians shoes to try b/c of a special offer. I noticed on their site that they offer 40% off for families w/ multiples!!! That’s the best multiples discount I’ve ever heard of. (Stride Rite doesn’t offer one at all.) They only require a picture of your kids & that you buy 2 pair (or 3 for triplets, etc.) of shoes at the same time. Also, if you sign up for their newsletter you get 15% off your first purchase. I’ll definitely let you guys know how we like them.

Seeking Sippy cup advice

Since I read an article in the newspaper about how babies should give up the bottle by 18 months I decided to make more of an effort on using the sippy cups. I started on Monday. I’ve been giving it at the time I would a bottle, but Frankie would only drink an ounce so I would switch to the bottle & he’d drink 5 oz from the bottle. Angelina did well at lunch today. She drank about 5 oz from the sippy cup before pushing it away. So no bottle as follow up for her.  Just wondering if I’m doing the weaning the right way.

We Are Having Sleep Issues

Both babies are waking up during the night wanting me to hold them, and this is happening while I am alone and Steven is at work.  Last night, thank goodness Faith slept all night long, but Emma woke twice, and she is becoming quite the “Mama’s Girl”, wanting to be held and rocked.  Both times I rocked her for 5 minutes and she went right back to sleep.  I’m having trouble getting her in the bed at the beginning too, because she can now roll over and pull herself up, so she is refusing to go down.

I kind of knew this would happen once she started becoming more mobile.  Although, I’m happy and excited that she has finally progressed into rolling over and pulling up, I have to admit I miss my good little baby that would lay down and self soothe herself to sleep.  Is that terrible of me?

Anyway, I know, I know, you are asking yourself, “Why in the world is she still up past midnight?”  Well…I’ll tell you why…because I’m enjoying a little “me” time.  Tired or not, I’m gonna get my “me” time, even if it means I lose a little sleep.  So I guess I’ll stop whining now.  Thanks for listening anyway! ;)
