Update on Teething

April 27, 2008

Faith seems to be doing better, but we had a rough night last night, because this ordeal has caused her to become very needy and clingy.  She went to sleep fine at the beginning of the night, but then woke up around 11PM.  She would go right back to sleep in my arms, so I knew she wasn’t hurting, but when I’d go to lay her down again, she would cry and sit up in her crib.  As soon as she was back in my arms again, once again, she’d fall fast asleep. This went on until around 1AM and FINALLY, when I laid her down, she stayed asleep.  But then she woke up again around 5:45, and I just rocked her and we slept together in the recliner until about 7:30.  Of course, my day was starting because Allie was already up at this point, so no more naps for me, but laid Faith back down again, and she slept until around 9AM.

I do have a question for you guys.  She now has a fever blister on her mouth and her gums on the top around her front teeth look inflamed, and those aren’t the ones coming in, she’s had them.  Is this related to teething?  I may just run her in to see the ped tomorrow.  I’ve never experienced anything like this.

A Very Miserable Teething Baby

April 25, 2008

Ok guys, I need some advice here.  Faith is having major pain with her molars coming in.  I’ve never experienced this before with the other two.  It kept her up most of the night and she won’t eat anything.  She’s had fever too, so I’ve been giving her Tylenol every four hours and also rubbing Oragel on her gums.  They feel so swollen and she’s drooling excessively, so I’m pretty sure it’s what is causing the fever.

Any suggestions other than what I’m already doing?

i’m being a big baby

April 23, 2008

i’m in NYC this week for work - as many of you know - i travel here 4 times a year for about 2-3 nights per trip. Well, as the babies are not babies anymore and jordan and madeline are getting older, these trips are getting harder and harder to take - i do nothing but think about hugs and kisses from them and how much i miss them - yes, it’s nice to have some “me” time with my friends, but honestly, i would much rather be with my kids.  sorry - i just had to share my self pity - can’t wait to see them all on Friday! :)

How BIG are they now?

Faith and Emma had an appointment yesterday and got weighed, measured, and iron levels checked. Here are the new stats:

Faith: 24 lbs and 32 in long

Emma 23 lbs 12oz and 31 3/4 in long

Pretty close! Faith is the bigger eater usuallySmile Iron levels were within the normal range for both and I was happy to see that, especially after their recent “pickiness” with food lately. They both fall within the 50th percentile for height and weight so they are average. It’s funny because Grace was about 23 lbs at this age too.

We have all been loving this Spring weather! Our new routine consists of an hour of outdoor play in the morning and afternoon every day if the weather is good. I snapped some Spring pics this morning while we were outdoors. Grace is fascinated with the tulips in the front. The redbud tree is especially beautiful in bloom this week as well as the pear tree. Bring on the allergy season!Wink

OMG Izzy got out of her crib

April 22, 2008

The girls were both down for “naps” this afternoon and I kept hearing a toy go off.  Well I thought DH gave it to them when he put them down but then the toy noise was followed with banging and all these strange noises.  I thought I better go check on them and when I opened the door, Izzy was walking around all over the room.  She just walked up to me like this was normal and handed me her toothbrush that she had found and was carrying around.  The room was a mess with mini garbage bags, clothes, toys, books, toiletries and she even managed to find the humidifier in the closet and got that out too.  I was freaked out but then it turned out to be pretty funny.  She was so proud of herself.  We lowered the crib to the lowest setting so hopefully this will keep her contained a bit better!

The Adventure Begins

April 21, 2008

Faith and Emma will be 19 months old this next week. Where has the time gone!? They are growing up into little girls and don’t resemble “babies” too much these days.

The last few days have brought new meaning to the term mommy “stress!” Emma has started to scale the changing table at lightning speeds! I am using my firmest “no” and it doesn’t seem to be working. I don’t want to take the table down yet as I am still changing loads of diapers daily and the table saves my back. I am not sure what the solution will be. I have had to keep their bedroom door shut when I can’t be close by to see what is going on. Faith hasn’t tried it yet but they are now both able to climb into their high chairs if the trays are off. This doesn’t seem to be causing problems yet. In fact, they will sit there happily in their trayless chairs and watch me in the kitchen for quite awhile.

If I had to classify the stage they are in right now it would be “Caution…..Danger Ahead!”

Need suggestions

April 20, 2008

I need your help. I plan to start a blog about our move and stay in Hong Kong. It will be in English but I need a name suggestion for the blog … any ideas? I am so bad at this. Hoping somebody is a little more creative than me!
