A taste of what’s to come.

May 30, 2008

“I’m the fastest!” ”I’m the smartest!” ”I ate the most!” “I peed more than you!” “I’m the jedi master & you’re just a padawon learner!”

These are just a few of the competitive remarks I’ve heard over the past week.  We brought my nephew, who’s 5, home from our trip to stay with us for a week.  He & Owen are “best buddies” but they moved to Kentucky this past Dec. for my BIL’s job.  They are being great & having a blast, but the competition between them is nonstop.  They can turn anything into a competition & let’s just say that neither of them are very gracious winners.

I can’t help but think Jacob & Cole will be doing the same thing in a few years.  I need to start now on finding ways to handle it or I may just go crazy!

a couple of questions -

May 24, 2008

Hey all -  So, as we head into the 18 month period, i’m starting to get a little concerned of the lack of talking - trust me, there is plenty of babble, but when they want something, they scream. We have taken the pacifiers from them during the day(unless it’s nap time) to try and get them to use words instead of screams, so i think we are heading in the right direction.  How is everyone else talking at this age?  the only thing they say that is understandable is dada, momma, bye bye and baby. They definitely understand and can follow directions, just don’t say much.

Into Everything!?

May 15, 2008

Alright  - Samantha is into EVERYTHING!!!  she has learned to take the step stool from the bathroom to the living room to climb onto the couches or into the kitchen to grab things off the counter. I wear glasses that have the clip on’s for sunglasses and can’t find the clip ons ANYWHERE.  i’m sure she took them somewhere - I feel like i’m constantly running after her or yelling at everyone for leaving things just lay on the counters. Is anyone having a similar issue?

SafetyTat - Just In Case - Safety Tattoos For Your Kids

I came across this great website that sells temporary tattoos you put on your child. It lists your phone number in case they get lost. They even have tattoos that alert someone caring for your child about your child’s medical condition or allergies, such as “Allergic to Nuts”, “I’m Autistic” or “I’m Diabetic”. Here’s some more info from the SafetyTat website:

It can happen anywhere—at an amusement park, zoo, school field trip, or even your local shopping mall. Your attention shifts for a moment, and suddenly your child or loved one has wandered out of sight.

So put the odds in your favor for a safe return, with SafetyTat. Designed by a Mom of three kids, SafetyTat is a fun and colorful kids temporary safety tattoo that’s uniquely personalized with your cell phone number. When applied to the arm of your child or loved one, SafetyTat provides an immediate, highly visible form of identification that stays in place even when wet and lasts for days.

SafetyTat—it’s the perfect way to show how much you care, just in case.

This is such a great idea! Being a parent of an autistic child, this would definitely help ease our fears, if heaven forbid, anything were to ever happen.

Hey Guys!

Sorry…been having major server issues, but my hosting company swears it is all fixed.  So I’m crossing my fingers.  Anyway, everything should be working fine now, so post away! :)
