Hey you guys!

June 25, 2008

Long time no talkie!  We have moved and are finally back with dh.  All of the kids are doing well.  The transition has been easy, very nice.  I don’t really have a lot of new news…..pretty normal day to day life.  The girls have their 18mo check up on the 7th of July.  We may be going in the direction of tubes for both of them:( they have had 9 and 10 different ear infections and way to many antibiotics.  I know some of you have had tubes….has it helped?

I haven’t quite figured out how to use this page yet.  Is the view supposed to be different when you first get on the site vs. when you log in?  Also, I have a different email address.  I changed it on my account but was unsure if there was anything else I needed to do.

Talk to you all later!

Birthday Fun

June 23, 2008

Yesteday we had a big get together at my parent’s house to celebrate hubby’s birthday and my sister’s birthday. It was a fabulous day with family. My sister has 8 kids and believe it or not………they all get along with my Jacob, Grace, Faith and Emma. My sis has a set of identical twins too. Her girls, Bridgett and Katherine are 5. I got a cute picture of them with Faith and Emma. The other little girl in the picture is Susan, my sister’s youngest, who will be 2 on Aug. 11. Faith and Emma will be 2 Sept. 28th. I am so glad they can grow up together!

Almost 2...Emma, Susan, and Faith

I did something stupid

Saturday, Frankie was wide awake at naptime. He was looking out the window from his crib. So I figured, since he wasn’t sleepy I’d take him outside in the backyard. He was wearing a onesie (& a diaper) and that’s it. He wanted to get down from me holding him so I put him down barefooted & let him walk around. He was walking back & forth on the cement happy as can be. After about a half hour I picked him up to bring him back inside & noticed some blood on the front of his foot. Lou said  ”that’s just from the dr visit when he got his shot & it was bleeding & dripped on his foot.” Then I looked at the bottom of his foot & his toes were all scraped up.  His big toe is missing a layer or two of skin! I felt sooo bad!  It’s scabbing now so he’s getting better. I have it bandaged & he’s walking on his heels keeping his toe up. Hopefully it’ll heal fast & soon!!!  My poor baby!!!! :(

couple of questions

June 22, 2008

1) do your babies use pillows yet?

2) have they had peanut butter yet?

I currently use a receiving blanket folded up for a pillow for them - 9 times out of 10, it ends up across the other side of the crib, or they are using it like a blanket.

We haven’t given them peanut butter yet - there is no history of food allergies in our family, nor did jordan and madeline have any issues with peanut butter and quite frankly, i’m pretty certain that i was giving jordan and madeline peanut butter by 18months, so i’m not so sure why i’m so concerned?

18 Month Update

June 21, 2008

Hi everyone. We had our 18 month check-up today. The babies are fine. Except Angelina had a big drop in her weight percentile. She was at 40% & dropped to 2%. Frankie’s been at the low percentile, but has been following the curve. Angelina was accepting ”real” food  but I’m still feeding them jars of baby food & baby cereal. We are being referred to a nutritionist. I will be callling her on Monday. Hopefully she can help by telling me what to feed them & hopefully they will accept the food. They had the HepA shot & cried. They were supposed to get the chicken pox vax, but the dr didn’t have any left. We will be going back in a month for a weight check & they get the shot then. Also they should be saying six words & pointing to things that they want & they are not doing that either.  (just babbling & screaming). I never knew motherhood would be this difficult & feel like I’m failing them. Angelina loves books so I’m going to try to read to them more & I’m thinking maybe they have had too much tv time so I’m going to cut that back. I don’t know what else I can do.

sarah fell out of the crib

June 20, 2008

so, they were back for nap time and madeline and i were playing Candyland when all of a sudden, there was a loud thump, then crying - i went back to find sarah laying on the her back next to the crib. UGH. She has started hoisting herself up on the side of the crib and today, had just the right strength to get herself over! I had thought the mattress was as far down as it could go, but came to realize there was one more setting to make it about 2 inches lower. needless to say, i moved it down and hopefully that will be good enough.

she is fine - just startled - right now, she is currently trying to get up on the couch, so apparently, she has no fear.

milestones

June 18, 2008

so, sarah and samantha had their 18 month check up - they are both on an antibiotic for a sinus infection, but other than that, all is well. I’m just waiting for a few milestones…

1) hand preference - i’m still not seeing it. i would say 80% of the time, it’s the left hand, but just when i think it’s going to be the left hand, they switch it up on me? I would’ve thought by now that we would have seen a preference?

2) potty training - we have the potty, but they are more interested in tearing it apart and putting toys in it then sitting on it - i guess all in time?

3) they hav finally started using the fork and spoon consistently - to the point of not wanting ANY help with feeding - can we say independence? LOL! :)

4) They fight with each other alot! pull hair, rip binky’s out of their mouths, pull each other down by their shirts, pinch each other.  I feel like a referee btwn the two of them.  At this very moment, samantha is stealing sarah’s fork from her high chair, but sarah just took samantha’s spoon.  They also love to “trade” food.

We are all on vacation this week - DH is in the process of switching jobs, so he’s been not working for a few weeks, so figured we would all take some time as well and hang out this week.

we went to the zoo - the older girls are going on a field trip today while DH and i take sarah and samantha to lunch and some grocery shopping. It’s been a relaxing week!

Hope all is well!

Sorry soooooo long!

June 17, 2008

Sofie and I returned from Chicago on Sunday and tomorrow the movers coming again to pack our stuff and load the container on Friday. Life has been crazy and hectic. DH will return tomorrow after a month in Hong Kong. Our trip to Chicago was great, a lot of shopping, meeting up with old friends, it was hard leaving. It felt like I never left, and I know it’s going to be a while now since Chicago and Hong Kong are 8800 miles apart, 13 hours time difference … Hope all is well. Twins are doing great. Had some fevers (also MMR shots at 18 months), but overall, they’re doing well!

Oh, and I opened my web blog … still needs work but I got to start somewhere. The address is 5onthemove.blogspot.com.
