It happened today, Something I thought would never

Now I know I was kidding myself but some child never do it, climbing out of their crib that is.   I was and still an in no rush to put my girls in “big” girl beds.  I wanted to keep them in their cribs until they were completely potty trained.  Well that looks like it won’t happen.

I’m working our store as I do each weekend, Hubby was home with the girls.  While the girls were napping, he went across the street to bring over a swing set that we bought from our neighbor, he had the monitor on him.

Just as he was finishing up, he hears Olivia saying “Papi where are you?”  she normally says things like that so he didn’t pay any mind.  Well then he hears Cora screaming.  Naturally he runs over to our house and up a flight of stairs and sees Cora sitting on the floor.  He was like how did you get on the floor.

So now my problems start.  She climbed out of her crib and landed on the floor.  This is very scarry because we do not have a gate at the top of the stairs because this wasn’t an issue.  We have the gate, just never put it up.  So she could have easily went down the stairs.   Needless to say, the gate is going up as we speak or in internet world, as I type.

Cora is okay, no signs of trama, she was scared but pretty much stopped crying as he picked up her.  No marks and she is acting normal, even ate normal during their late lunch.

These kids love to scare the poop out of ya.

Potty Question

We haven’t started potty training yet, but would like to be prepared. Do you or will you be buying one potty or two (or more)?  Do you buy one per child? Do you try to train both at the same time?  Can you recommend a good potty to buy?  I have no clue on how to handle any of this and would appreciate everybody’s advice.

They are gaining…

When we went to the dr on Sat. She weighed the babies. In one month Frankie gained 8oz & Angelina gained 4oz. They still are reluctant to try new foods. Angelina will try some but Frankie gets tight-lipped and won’t try anything. I’ve been adding pastina, shredded/finely cut meat, and cheese to their diet. Oh, and pudding. For lunch I gave them some canned apricots that I pureed, but I left some big pieces in there & they seemed to like it.  I’ve been using fresh fruit & either fresh, frozen or canned veggies instead of the jar food. I have been buying the stage 3 foods though (turkey & garden veg, chicken veg & veg beef) & mixing my pasta & meat into it. I don’t know how to make that kind of a gravy. I tried a regular jar of chicken gravy but Angelina didn’t like it.  I’ve given a side dish of the pastina with regular red sauce & seemed to like it.  I haven’t tried mac & cheese yet…not sure how to make the cheese sauce.  Someone said I could just shred cheddar cheese over the pasta while it’s still hot.  Anyone have any food advice or recipes?  I know you all are way ahead of me on this, so any help would be appreciated.  How did you get your loved ones to start eating the regular foods?  Did they refuse & then one day just try it???  I’m thinking of trying hotdogs soon. But I don’t want them eating that all the time. I’d rather give them more nutritous foods.

Ahhhh…no more fevers!

Just wanted to post an update on the babies.  Angelina hasn’t had a fever but is still on antibiotics. She had a drippy nose after sneezing for the past 2 days but didn’t sneeze at all today.  Frankie awoke to a temp of 99.4. Not bad after seeing all those high numbers. The dr had given me a prescription to fill only if he was above 101.5 on Mon.  It never got that high. yay!  It’s nice to wake up to chit-chatting kids again (not screaming kids).  I can relax a bit now.

Another reason to go green

We had a bit of a scary morning.  I was changing Cole’s diaper & walked out of the bathroom to find Jacob soaked in bathroom cleaner.  I’m not sure how he got it b/c all our cleaners are usually locked away out of their reach.  Anyway, I quickly cleaned him off & called poison control since I wasn’t sure if he ingested any or not.  Thankfully we use natural, “green” cleaners so he’s fine…not even skin irritation.

We’ve been using natural cleaners exclusively for quite some time.  They work great & are comparible in price to the regular stuff.  This particular cleaner was the new Clorox Green Works Natural Bathroom Cleaner.  I also like products by Seventh Generation, Method & Biokleen.  I’m certainly not advocating that everyone switch to natural cleaners so you can start letting your kids drink them!!  We still take all the usual safety precautions, but today that wasn’t enough.  Somehow in the hustle & bustle of life w/ 3 kids we screwed up & left it out.  I shudder to think what could have happened if the product had contained bleach or ammonia.  So aside from the other health & environmental benefits of using “green” cleaners, the “just in case your kid drinks it” factor is now a huge motivator to switch in my opinion.

Update on Teething

Faith seems to be doing better, but we had a rough night last night, because this ordeal has caused her to become very needy and clingy.  She went to sleep fine at the beginning of the night, but then woke up around 11PM.  She would go right back to sleep in my arms, so I knew she wasn’t hurting, but when I’d go to lay her down again, she would cry and sit up in her crib.  As soon as she was back in my arms again, once again, she’d fall fast asleep. This went on until around 1AM and FINALLY, when I laid her down, she stayed asleep.  But then she woke up again around 5:45, and I just rocked her and we slept together in the recliner until about 7:30.  Of course, my day was starting because Allie was already up at this point, so no more naps for me, but laid Faith back down again, and she slept until around 9AM.

I do have a question for you guys.  She now has a fever blister on her mouth and her gums on the top around her front teeth look inflamed, and those aren’t the ones coming in, she’s had them.  Is this related to teething?  I may just run her in to see the ped tomorrow.  I’ve never experienced anything like this.

A Very Miserable Teething Baby

Ok guys, I need some advice here.  Faith is having major pain with her molars coming in.  I’ve never experienced this before with the other two.  It kept her up most of the night and she won’t eat anything.  She’s had fever too, so I’ve been giving her Tylenol every four hours and also rubbing Oragel on her gums.  They feel so swollen and she’s drooling excessively, so I’m pretty sure it’s what is causing the fever.

Any suggestions other than what I’m already doing?

15 Mo. Check-up

We went to the Ped this morning for the 15 mo check-up. (We are a little behing due to the illness in Jan).  They both weigh the same!!! 20lbs8oz. Frankie is 31 1/2″ & Angelina is 32″.  They got 3 booster shots (ouch). Frankie cried & Angelina just yelled out, but didn’t cry. She was looking at a sticker, so maybe that distracted her.  After the dr, we went for a walk, then had lunch & they are napping now.  They had a busy day today. :)
